Save Attendance Allowance Petition.
I hadn’t really picked up on this. I see some similarities/difficulties in this type of localisation as there was over local welfare provision and will be over the provision of supported housing….....

“The government claims that local authorities will step in to fill the gap in provision created by scrapping attendance allowance. But in the face of sweeping cuts imposed on their budgets, local authorities may find that administering such an allowance is beyond their means. What guarantees will there be that local authorities will have sufficient funds to match the current rates?”
The example case on that link might not be the best one. The care needs referred to - shopping, cleaning, cooking, general mobility needs don’t count for attendance allowance but are the kinds of things local authorities provide for.
Thread on AA consultation here Martin.
Hadn’t picked up on Damian’s points but it’s true, the case study isn’t the finest example to use. However, the freedom to spend AA on whatever support the person thinks is necessary, even if that is for shopping or taxis, is one of its key strengths for recipients.
