UC w/out bank details - dummy details?

Hello - I’ve just shared this with a forum of caseworkers supporting people seeking asylum and granted refugee status, and have now panicked that this may not be the most up to date of information!

The issue being that people granted leave to remain need to claim UC and open a bank account basically on the same day they receive their BRP card (the notice period given before being evicted from Home Office accommodation has recently shortened by a lot too, so it is even more important that the 5 weeks for UC starts ASAP).

Does anyone know if the below is still relevant, to put in dummy account details in order to submit a UC claim ASAP, and then report bank details later on when an account has been able to be opened? We have certainly done it in the past, but I’m unsure if this is still the DWP’s position and/or if the below website is up to date. Any advice much appreciated!

Not sure about DWP’s formal position but you can definitely still do this, it accepts whatever you’re writing as the bank details on the 3rd try.

You might also want to be aware of the JR Project’s info about UC delaying payment when there’s no NI and the solution for it.
