Customer is 33 - UCHE restricted to shared accomm rate
Customer says he has appealed as he was in B&b /hostel accommodation which was provided by the home office while his asylum application was being processed.
My feeling is this wont count as homeless accommodation for the SAR exemption - can anyone confirm whether it would or wont please? (hes applied for a DHP for the shortfall)
Cheers

I think you’re probably right. The accommodation needs to be a “hostel” which is a defined term and includes, in particular, requirements about the status of the landlord. It also needs to be a “hostel for homeless people” which is also a defined term and the claimant needs to have received relevant services for ‘rehabilitation or resettlement’. It is hard to see how any one of those three criteria would be met in this context.
