The news item yesterday - Incapacity Benefit Reform, research from Sheffield Hallam University - certainly caused a bit of stir in the local and national press.

The figures for Barnsley suggest that 3,700 people will be removed from benefit entirely.  If all these people are claiming the lowest non-meanstested rate of IB possible, (£94.25 per week), it works out at a loss of just over £18 million per year from the local economy.

That should do wonders for the local job creation!

Stuff and nonsense! The 3700 IB claimants have obviously been cured overnight and will be able to work with no problems whatsoever. Their wages will contribute to the local economy massively. I would like to extend a personal thank you to Mr Cameron for making the 600,000 people well enought to work again in such a short space of time. And they called Jesus a miracle worker!
