Shunted onto UC from Tax Credits/HB - what are the run ons?

Hi all

Sorry for being thick I just want to make clear that nothing has changed post Corvid 19:

If you are ‘naturally’ migrated from HB to UC = 2 week run on of HB

If you are ‘naturally’ migrated from Tax Credits to UC = is there any run on?

Key: ‘Naturally migrated’ = mistakenly claimed UC.

Not aware of any specific run-on that would overlap with UC like the HB one does. Tax credits have a 4 week run-on when hours fall, but that only runs up to day of UC.

Are you seeing this happen a lot? We are picking up quite a few queries especially from self-employed people.

Thanks for the clarification Victoria.

Not quite sure what you are referring to by seeing this happen a lot.  Getting enquiries from people checking that they can still claim WTC on either a SE, PAYE of combination of both basis.

Had a few people on tax credits who claimed UC in a confused panic due to corvid-19 thinking it was something in addition to Tax Credits or just a temporary measure.

It is clear from other forums that a lot of people have claimed UC without realising it will end Tax Credits. For self employed this could have significant adverse impact when MIF is reinstated later in the year. Others have then found they have no UC entitlement.
