Found the following submitting some FOI’s - :

‘There is no concept of National Insurance credits only claims within Universal Credit’ - see attached FOI response - had a very quick look at the Social Security (Credits) regs 1975 i.e. Reg 8B i.e. LCW and 8G credits for persons entitled to UC and an even more rushed look at Part 1 of Welfare Reform Act 2012 (Appointments due); which appear to confirm this.

Has anyone researched the above?

I think Martin’s comments here are important https://www.rightsnet.org.uk/forums/viewthread/12714/#59164

There has never really been any such thing as a ‘credits only claim’ for ESA or anything else.

What should be possible is to qualify for NI credits on the basis of LCW.

I sympathise - i got tied in knots over this a short time ago and then found previous threads (as quoted above)which made matters clear.  Now I’ve got to remember to jettison that concept!!!

Yeah, it blew my mind when I realised this! It is interesting how we do use shorthand and simplify terms out of necessity, but it can distort our understanding.
