Reporting self-employed earnings

Self-employed UC claimant has been told that each assessment period runs to precisely midnight, not to end of his shift. So, for 6 April to 5 May (for example) then he has to report takings/expenses from precisely 00:00 on 6 April to 23:59 on 5 May. Claimant is taxi driver who works nights - this requirement is absurdly impractical for him but work coach is insistent that earnings must be reported this way.

Is this a local issue or has anyone else encountered this attitude from work coaches?

seriously?  what planet is the work coach on?  does she seriously expect him to park up (passengers notwithstanding) and count his money at exactly midnight?
