Couple with one working 25 hours. Partner was working for an agency but hasn’t worked for a few months. HMRC say partner is still getting £2000 per week from this agency. The claimants have been back and forth and put in a mandatory recon and HMRC have accepted there may be something fraudulent going on with the agency and are investigating but UC won’t pay or make a decision on the MR until HMRC have completed their investigation.

The investigation could take a long time and meanwhile the tenants are getting no UC and therefore can’t pay anything to their rent.

We have advised claimants to contact their MP but any other ideas?

Thanks

No idea ... but provide bank statements showing all income and escalate complaint through DWP escalation numbers if MP not already doing this?

Yes we have advised to go to MP but just seems there should be some other way to resolve. They are living off her part time wage and child benefit. They should be getting just over £1000 pcm Universal Credit. They have no way of paying rent and no way of knowing how long HMRC may take to investigate.
