Benefits in charity run hospital
Are the rules regarding benefit entitlement different for someone in a hospital funded through a charity? The client in question has been in hospital for more than a year and would normally qualify for ESA/DLA/PIP.
Thanks
The usual hospital rules apply to NHS hospitals, they might come under the rules for ‘self funders’ in resi care instead? p914 of CPAG gives some details of when an independent hospital is classed as a ‘care home’ for ESA purposes.

I would imagine that it would be similar to hospices. If the hospice is solely funded by charity PIP etc continue but if it is funded by NHS normal hospitalisation rules apply
Thanks for the replies. Personally I think the fact that the hospital is funded entirely through contributions and receives no public funding should mean they are entitled to keep all of their benefits but I’m not sure that is happening.
