Not sure if this has already been covered and apologies if it has.

As there is no SDP in UC does anyone know how this will affect those currently entitled to the self-contained flat rate of LHA rather than the shared accommodation rate due to their SDP award. Will entitlement to the limited capability for work related activity element or limited capability for work element be the equivalent of receiving the SDP? (Wishful thinking no doubt!)  I would be grateful if anyone could point me towards the details of how LHA will work under UC especially as social housing tenants will also shortly be affected by this.

Thanks for your consideration.

My apologies. I have found the answer to my own query within the UC regs which appear to be more generous than the current rules as they revolve around SDP rather than receipt of the relevant disability benefits:-

Renters excepted from shared accommodation
29.(5) E is under 35 years old and is in receipt of—

(a)the care component of disability living allowance at the middle or highest rate;
(b)attendance allowance; or
(c)the daily living component of personal independence payment.
