Has anyone come across a waiting period being applied when going from a basic award to support group?  I saw a client’s award papers today and they heavily implied this was the case (but it was as clear as mud).  My client was awarded under the special rules - so no WCA.

Do they mean the assessment phase? Usually the components cannot be awarded before the 13week assessment phase has ended.

In the circumstances you describe the SG can apply sooner than that (under reg 7 I think) if either the claim is made on the grounds of being terminally ill or that information comes to light during the 13weeks.
