Hello everyone.

I think i know the answer but just checking?

A client has been receiving contribution based jsa for 5 months and now jobcentre say he ought ot claim contribution based esa. This is ok.

I know contribution based jsa is limiterd to 182 days but my question is if they claim esa now contribution based is this allowable for minimum of 365 days from now?

I have looked in disability rights handbook and it seems to imply this is ok but just wondered and a second opinion is always good.

Obviously the person could claim esa and if above applicable then can do so long as they continue to meet the criteria.

thanks for your help in anticipation

much appreciated

Yes, there is no reduction because of the period he has been on JSA

I thought it was ok but you know how it is. sometimes better to bounce off another for a second opinion.

best wishes
