Back dating of PIP’s once decision made.

Today I saw a client who had been in receipt of DLA at the low rate of mobility.

December 2013, he informed DLA that his condition had significantly worsened and was subsequently sent out a PIP’s application.

Form completed and medical assessment had and has now been notified that he has been granted the enhanced rate for each component. During all of this time he has continued to receive his DLA at the low mobility rate.

The client has now been told that as his DLA award was due to finish on the 29th July 2014, his PIP’s award will not start until the 30th July 2014 and that there will be no back dating.

Surely they should be backdating and off setting any monies paid under the DLA against his PIP’s award?

No they only pay after the pip decision is made as per new regs

There are a couple of threads on here (mine one) where my customer waited 9 months for a decsion so in effect lost benefit for those months as he was awarded increased care and mobility.
