Sanctioned after capped

I now have two large families that have had their total benefits capped to the £500.00 level.

They then have been sanctioned reducing their benefits still further…..

My argument (hey why not) is that their total benefits should not drop.

Ie ...the sanctoioned JSA bit might go down but .....the HB should in effect go back up.. to keep them at the £500.00 level.

I am being told I am wrong. (which I probably am) but…

Can you advise me?

Subject to some exceptions ‘they’ are right.  See regs 75A-G of the HB Regs and reg 80(2) of the UC Regs.
