Wolverhampton mail handling losing med certs?
And you would be increasing the risk. The Royal Mail is a lot less likely to lose the post in transit than the DWP’s internal mail system.
Down here at least if you book an appointment to hand in documents they are scanned and emailed direct to the benefits centre. So it is a really effective way of getting med certs etc over quickly. However as described above JCP staff really try hard to avoid making the appointments - I find it is easier requesting the appointments through the national phone line.

Is this local practice or national? And, if national is it written down anywhere?
It’s part of the West Midlands Royal Mail handling centre. Google pics would reveal nought but one big roof.
I was imagining some kind of giant portal to another dimension. At least that would explain the mass disapprearance of the volume of paperwork in question.
Somewhere in a parallel universe it’s raining medical certificates.

The appointment you ask for is an AJCS (‘ajax’) appointment which is definitely national. I assume the email system is national as well? I get the impression that the advisers have some discretion as to what they send over - when I’ve booked appointments over the phone I’ve been told that they won’t scan claim forms etc as it takes too long. Never had a problem getting med certs sent over though.
when it comes to sending medical certicates to wolverhampton post handling site i now make three copies and send them all seperately. ridiculous measures i know but necessary from my experience
i had a case recently where a client med was “not received” even though i’d sent it and a back up. numerous phone calls and a complaint went by and my client whos most poorly had to visit his GP to obtain a replacement which i then sent off.
later when phoning to check it had arrived (i say “it” i mean the three copies sent) the staff i spoke to told me that they can contact the GP directly to check if a med was issued
why the heck they didnt do this in this case baffles me, they left a very vulnerable claimant without money for 3/4 weeks when they could have just phoned his GP
so, no more, if ever i’m involved i’m sending multiple copies of everything and if they now claim not to receive anything i’m making a complaint and writing to MP

Thanks Sam.
Good old ajax!
Ive done 2 Ajax appointments last month which were electronically put on jobcentre plus appointment diaries for my clients to sort out problems.
Both clients arrived at the jobcentre and they didnt have on record that the appts had been made, so they rearranged for my clients to return another day
Lovely waste of time and expense for all involved.
left hand, right hand etc etc. Good job they arent running a brewery!
Our local office have issued us with email addresses for us to scan and send med certs/evidence etc, although there are still some difficulties it’s a step in the right direction.
