Client   has various illnesses none confirmed as mental health but includes running a home with 5 children.

She will not allow anyone else to help or visit her do we think she might come under the above?  She is also prone to being very emotional and doing things in her way.

any ideas as to whether or not the above activities would encompass her health difficulties?

You’ll probably get more replies if you post on the ESA rather than the UC part of the forum.

To attract points under any of the mental health descriptors (I presume we’re talking post 28/1/13) your client’s incapacity must arise from a ‘specific mental illness or disablement’ so if there is no mental health diagnosis it’s not going to be easy (sadly, running a home with 5 children doesn’t qualfy as a mental illness though it probably should do!)

Has she ever been treated for depression/anxiety or anything similar?

I think you’re going to have to try to persaude her to open up to her GP with a view to obtaining a formal diagnosis (and hopefully appropriate treatment).
