Can anyone help with the intepretation of descriptor 1(a)(ii)?

I am wanting some direction on what a ‘reasonable timescale’ is.

Let’s say a claimant can walk 200 meters, but this takes them 40+ minutes as they have to stop and rest throughout, having to stop every 30-40 meters - would they be eligible under descriptor 1(a)(ii)?

Any help would be much appreciated.

See the DMG for DLA - section 61325

I would be arguing that anything below 40m per minute is very slow and not within a reasonable timescale. Probably the shorter the distance, the slower the pace would have to be to be ‘unreasonable’.

This descriptor says

1 “Mobilising unaided by another person with or without a walking stick, manual wheelchair or other aid if such aid is normally or could reasonably be, worn or used.

(ii) repeatedly mobilise 50 metres within a reasonable timescale because of significant discomfort or exhaustion.

The issues here are “Mobilising” not walking, what is a reasonable timescale for mobilising 50m and can they achieve this repeatedly, ie over and over again, not just more than once (which is repeated)
