ESA and CA

Many of us will have made claims for CA for clients who were on Incap Ben, so that underlying entitlement was confirmed and so carer premium awarded. As it was underlying entitlement this did not affect the disabled person’s SDP.

As clients switch to ESA and this only runs for a year in the above cases CA should go into payment but SDP lost.

Are there any figures that show how many people are likely to be affected and how is this going to be communicated?

Communicated? Probably quietly.  But not as quietly as the message that most carers in those circs who wait 85 days from the date their ESA is time limited may simply re-apply and receive CESA for another 365 days, restoring the cared-for person’s SDP in the process.
