It might just be me, but is anyone else struggling with the redesign in the forum? I’m finding it really hard to identify sections & topis with new posts.  There’s very little colour difference.

Any chance of a different icon or something, web-folks?

It took me a few minutes to get used to it.  I actually like it.

From a visual impairment perspective there is a lack of contrast and far too much white. Makes it way harder to read and much more tiring in the process.

“Disappointing” would be by summary.

I agree new posts definately needs a different colour or something, very difficult to identify

I know, but you can’t see at a glance what the new posts are as you could in the old-style forum.

Too much grey.  We need more colour, playmates.

hi there all,

yep, we don’t disagree - more contrast needed - leave it with us and we’ll get it adjusted…

cheers ros

I still like it.  If it must change can we have a shade of Farrow and Ball.  That would certainly suit a champagne socialist like me.

hi ikbikb ...

guess i’m thinking of it as us futureproofing the site against brokedness down the line ....

basically we’ve upgraded the platform that the site sits on which means that it’s more robust - and across most of the site you shouldn’t have spotted any change - however, because the forum has been customised to a degree (to make it more user-friendly), it is a part that gets a bit mangled in any upgrade ... apologies

... as ros has indicated above however we will be looking at knocking it back into shape over the coming days ....

ps - do let us know if you spot anything else untoward across the site

I don’t like it at all.  Far too much white, much more scrolling down to see things.  It would be better if the actual details of the post were entirely in the white section (i.e. not starting in the left side grey part) & started near the top of the box rather than way down below the poster’s details.

hi derek -

wow that sounds like it’s all gone a bit wonky for you!

here’s a screen shot of how i’m seeing it ... can you let me have one from your end, either post it here or email me ... .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

(ps - what version of what browser are you using?)

Derek seems to be describing what happens when the browser window isn’t using the full width of the screen.

Since the forum change, I am defaulting to subscribing to any thread that I post in. I thought there was a way to change the default to having that box unticked. Is there a settings page somewhere?

I meant that when you ask it to show new posts it tells you it’s looking for new topics.

hi all -

thanks again for your feedback ... we’ve made some progress, including -

- added orange folders to highlight new posts (TomH: i’m afraid the nearest farrow and ball match was ‘india yellow’ ... http://www.farrow-ball.com/india-yellow/colours//fcp-product/100066)

- added more contrast in the forum thread view - eg darker grey horizontal banner between posts; and a vertical line to sit between a user’s name/org details and the text of their post

- have combined ‘new posts’ and ‘new topics’ into a new ‘what’s new’ search

- have fixed Derek’s and Craven CAB’s display issues

- have changed the settings re the ‘Notify me via email when someone posts in this thread’ feature, in order that you have to elect to be notified rather than that being the default

again, do let us know if you spot anything else untoward across the site ... .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
