Is size everything? bedroom tax
Hi, We’ve received some information that a room under a certain area cannot count as a bedroom. Many ‘box’ rooms are tiny, so our questions are:
1. Is our information correct - that size really does matter?
2. Does anyone know what size a room needs to be to become a bedroom for ‘bedroom tax’ purposes?
3. Or is the issue really what it could be used for (we know many tiny box rooms are used as a bedroom, regardless of their suitability / comfort for this purpose?
We are a disabled people’s organisation and many disabled people are using their ‘spare’ bedroom for essential equipment or overnight care.
If this has been covered in another thread we’d be grateful for signposting. Many thanks
here’s a counsel’s opinion on what a bedroom is from a previous thread -

thank you, much appreciated
It might be worth a glance at the note I made last year in http://www.rightsnet.org.uk/forums/viewthread/4154/ which looked at some issues including the Rent Officer guidance which has been picked up on recently.
I have been reading through previous discussions, but the link described below has ‘disappeared’. Anyone know where else I can find it?

Apparently LAs are using this to define minimum standards.
