Seriously, in the UK at the very least the Jobcentre bouncers would try to throw out any musicians who did this, or likely call the police.

In the UK, something like Chopin’s Funeral March might be appropriate.  The first 14 bars are easily playable on any instrument.

“Un mundo mejor es posible”.

Whats the difference between playing an instrument in the street or in the Jobcentre?

Is one demonstrating ‘actively seeking work’ or even ‘engaged in remunerative work with a reasonable expectation of payment’ and the other being a ****** nuisance?

I think it depends which key one is playing in…

and given the parlous state of the benefits system, I reckon one might be able to get away with playing anything with diminished chords in a Jobcentre.

Surely the tune would be “Whistle while you work”?

I can’t watch this at work - internet restrictions etc etc.

But the thread does remind me of the time I was in a benefits office with a client collecting a Crisis Loan; a fella turned up who had no legs, was using a skateboard to transport himself and he started playing blues on the harmonica whilst waiting his turn….. ah the romance of it all. Hmm.
