Bereavement protection & Bedroom Tax

It’s Monday & my brain isn’t fully operational, but I’m trying to think ahead of myself.

Non-dep passed away in October, taking the family’s 3 bed need down to 2 bed.  Social Landlord, so the family will now fall under the bedroom tax come April. Will the family be able to receive the same protection as a private tenancy, and not get hit by the bedroom tax for 12 months from the date of death?  Even though they’re not going to see a restriction in their HB for the first 6 months after the death anyway?
