Carers Allowance and adult dependants increase

CA not my speciality so quick question. i have a client who is getting adult dep increase on his carers but with a new occ pension it now cancels out his income support and housing. Can they ask for it to be withdrawn and therefore get IS or will Income support still take it into account on the basis that they should have claimed it. I know that they can no longer claim it so want to make sure of my facts before i give any advice.

I am not sure he can relinquish the adult dependent’s increase, but if he can I would have thought it would be deemed notional income, if the reason for giving it up would be to claim or increase benefit.  What do others think?..
