How about a new version of Occam’s Razor as applied to DWP/HMRC

If you eliminate the fairness and justice, whatever remains, however unjust and unfair, must be just and fair.”

Isn’t that Sherlock Holmes?

Occams Razor is summed up as “simpler explanations are, other things being equal, generally better than more complex ones”.

For example:

Benefit cuts are an incredibly complicated way of ensuring fairness and social justice through incentivising work, punishing slackness, recognising need subject to economic priorities and generally doing lots of really hard thinking.
