HB and ESA

Client on ESA and in work related group. Now ESA has run for a year so is stopping mid April. Other income may mean no entitlement to ESA (IB). For HB purposes when ESA runs out will HB have the work related component continuing? OR Will a DP be payable due to 52 weeks sick? Or is there another answer? Any answers and references would be very much appreciated as I am going round in circles at the moment.

My understanding is that claimants in this position will continue to qualify for credits for LCW and will therefore meet the LCW requirement at para 21 schedule 3 HB Regs - so they’ll keep their component in HB/CTB.

As long as he/she is in the WRAG then he/she will continue to get their NI paid, free prescriptions and the WRA component will still be added to their applicable couple amount for HB/CTB purposes.
