Thanks for the response BCD. Good to know that my theory about “call centre crack” holds steady. There is just something addictive about working in a call centre which makes people desperate to sound authoritative regardless of their knowledge.

I have had a couple of similar instances. Claimant was getting PIP but no payment for the previous eighteen months. Claimant getting PIP but repeatedly and wrongly advised by social workers to claim AA.

Va1der I used to think “amount” was more useful. I no longer do given the vagaries of UC deductions, housing costs etc.

“You can’t claim PIP because you already get it” is honestly not how I was expecting this thread to resolve but in hindsight it does perfectly well explain why the call handler was prevented from continuing and is perhaps the only valid reason why that would be the case.
