Apparently £28Million per week of HR mobility component is transfered to Motability Operations in exchange for leased cars.

For reasons of consistency surely the DWP should pay the HRM to the claimant who can then pay Motability Operations themselves.

Otherwise property landlords would be being treated less favourably?

Interesting point. Back in the late 1980s(?) the then government acceded to demands from lenders to allow mortgage interest payments to be made direct to them because some claimants were spending the money on other things (no surprise given people’s need to juggle very tight budgets). This happened when mortgage posessions rose to very high levels.

The logic being applied to HB payments would mean that this should also go back to tbeing paid to cloiamnts. Or will policy on payemnts of HB to cliamnts change if and when rent possessions hit a record high?
