A £20m Homelessness Transition Fund has been announced by the Department of Communities and Local Government, to be administered by Homeless Link. The independent fund will run over three years, with money given out in successive funding rounds.

The fund aims to:

* Protect essential services for single homeless people and support them in becoming sustainable, and
* Support the introduction of ‘No Second Night Out’ standard to end rough sleeping and other innovations.

The fund offers grants to help services secure their long-term future and grants to help services pilot new ways of working that support the ambition to end rough sleeping – such as ‘No Second Night Out’.

Voluntary sector organisations that spend most of their income on homelessness services, will be able to apply for grants if they meet the criteria of each funding round. Applications are also welcome from consortiums of organisations, which are led by a homelessness agency.

The criteria for the first funding round will be announced before the end of July 2011, with an aim to distribute funding in October 2011. To receive the criteria when they are published, please register for further information.
