Hi. Just a quick one.

Does a child moving out of a household in receipt of CTC, HB, CB etc. Trigger a claim for UC?

I can understand HB requiring change of circumstances etc. But cannot see that a new claim is being made, and as such, a need for a UC claim?

Full service here.

Thanks

Correct, it’s not a new claim for UC. Unless of course, it’s a single parent household iro IS and this is the only qualifying child for IS, then claimant will need to claim UC for living costs and therefore migrate.

The key question to ask is always “Does this change mean that a new claim has to be made for one of the benefits/tax credits being replaced by UC?”  If the answer is no, UC is not triggered.
