Managed Migration - not just Tax credits only claimant

Hello. Anyone else finding that it is not just tax credit only claimants being invited to claim UC via managed migration. I am wondering is this part of the ‘small Discovery Phase’.  3 tenants have been TCs/HB/PIP/ESA claimants.

Is this worth challenging and the person potentially losing out whilst a review/mr runs its course, or do we advise that the person should follow on with their UC claim.

Hi Liam. This sounds as though you could be in one of the new discovery areas (https://www.rightsnet.org.uk/welfare-rights/news/item/dwp-confirms-expansion-of-universal-credit-managed-migration-discovery-phase-from-tax-credits-only-claimants-to-claimants-of-other-legacy-benefits-from-september-2023)
It might be worth talking to contacts at your local authority in case they’ve had any warning from the DWP. Or calling the managed migration phoneline to ask directly.

If you’d be happy to talk about these cases with CPAG’s Early Warning System, we’re still offering £25 for 40-minute interviews with advisers for our managed migration research project. Please email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) if you’re interested.

Hi Liam,
You might have seen the news item on this - Manchester is a ‘discovery’ area, so it does seem like your clients have been sent notices as part of the discovery process.
