Care Leavers turning 25 and SAR exemption

Am I correct in saying that if a young person is exempt from the shared accommodation rate of the LHA because of the care leavers exemption, that this exemption will end when he turns 25 and he will lose the 1-bed LHA and revert to the shared accommodation rate?

Thanks very much

It is a sad fact that they would lose the exemption - but always worth checking for other exemptions from the shared room rate which may allow it to continue beyond 25, as per Shelter’s website, “if you

live with your partner

are a care leaver under 25

have experienced domestic abuse [from memory this happened at any time since the age of 16]

lived in a hostel or refuge for at least 3 months [at any age]

get disability benefits but do not need overnight care

are a former prisoner aged 25 to 34 covered by MAPPA

are a survivor of modern slavery”

Thanks - this is what I though but 24 year old client has been advised by DWP worker that if he secures PRS before he turns 25 then he will keep the SAR exemption.  I’m sure this is not correct but thought I’d double check that I’ve not missed something!
Thank you - yes, I’ve checked for other exemptions
