Increase in PIPS appeals?
Has anyone else noticed an increase in the amount of PIPS appeals coming in, we had a trickle and this now seems to be gathering pace- I can’t help wonder if it is going to be another ESA flood of appeals all over again!
hardly a flood, but numbers have increased. We have had 4 PIP appeals in August, compared to 3 we received over the previous 4 months. The numbers are far to small to spot any trends at the moment. As a comparison, we had 142 DLA appeals last year, compared to the 7 PIP appeals we have had for the same period this year
How are people getting on with PIP appeals? I have had two so far, lost both sadly. Luckily I have CPAG training next week.
I seem to be doing ok at initial form stage and Mandy, but when getting to appeal, no go.Have asked for SOR’s of course.
Had one. Went for standard mobility and daily living. Got standard mobility.
Two successful so far, one unsuccessful. DWP has requested the SOR and suspended payment on both the successful ones.
I also have a successful appeal where DWP have requested SOR’s and no payments in the meantime. Sought hardship payment and they stated that as they do not accept my client scores even 8 points in either component (TS awarded enhanced on both!) they won’t even make a hardship payment.
It seems they are taking a blanket approach and requesting SOR’s against all successful appeals. Not sure if it is genuinely to identify why outcomes are so opposite - we have been waiting for months; appeal was end of May and still no money paid to client as SOR still outstanding!
As I posted previously, I’ve heard through the grapevine that it’s DWP national policy to request SORs on all successful PIP appeals. It certainly seems to be happening country-wide from what others have said. I’ve raised it with the MP of one of the clients concerned (tribunal awarded SR of DLC and ER of MC). She’s already waited the best part of 18 months and now faces a further delay. She has mental health as well as physical health issues and it isn’t doing anything for her state of mind.
