Hi

Does anyone have experience with the above. I supported a client to report a Change of Circumstances today as when he made his claim he stated he has no housing costs, when in fact he pays a mortgage and there is an option to state this in the UC application process.
After we reported this we were not asked for any further information such as mortgage amount and amount of interest etc- just a record in the journal that the COC has been reported.
Will they request further info or is there some other formal way to make an application for SMI? ( and is there scope for asking for a back-payment)

Many Thanks

I had a client do an SMI application. It’s likely that they’ll receive some information in the post imminently.
There’s a paper form which they will need to fill in and then needs to be sent to their mortgage lender - this asks about the details of the mortgage (reference, lender’s details, whether it’s the first mortgage or a re-mortgage, etc). There’s also legal paperwork to do with the charge against the property that will need to be signed and witnessed.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a copy of the form and didn’t take down the name of it.
