Hi - have a customer, , income is IS, Carers, CTC -  youngest child is 16 and gets DLA.
Income Support currently pay approx £150 pcm to mortgage company for mortgage interest - would her UC award include a mortgage interest payment or similar immediately if she a) got a migration notice orb) claimed UC before any migration notice?

I thought all DWP interst payments were treated as loans now but customer not sure as been on IS/ getting mortgage interest for approx 13 years

Your client should be told that any payments towards their mortgage are definitely in the form of a loan now and so should possibly check with DWP how much they owe on top of their outstanding mortgage - this changed in 2018 for everyone without exception so the fact of having been on IS for a longer period isn’t relevant as far as I can see.

I think the SMI loan should just port across as these are made under dedicated regulations that apply across all affected benefits https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2017/725/made
