i’m doing my first ESA appeal for a claimant with mental health problems

at the recent examination the memory “test” involved repeating 3 words - dog, stick, tree - back to the examiner.

amazing. does anyone have such a short attention span that they cant repeat 3 words straight after they hear them? even a goldfish has that level of memory surely. i would have though a better way of doing such a test would be to tell the words to the claimant at the start of the examination and ask them to repeat them back at the end of the examination so theres at least a 15 minute gap

the concentration “test” was to spell the word - world - backwards.

A ‘fair’ test of memory would also use words that are totally unconnected.  The three words used here could be held to have some connection to each other and would be more easily remembered than random words.
