Have an appeal coming up where person was in receipt of DLA Hr Mob and MR care.  NOw under PIP awarded standard care but no mobility.  Reason given by DM for no mobility is

the activity of driving a car is in itself a multi-tasking activity requiring significant physical function in terms of grip, power and upper and lower joint movements in conjunction with substantial cognitive powers of thought, perception, memory, reasoning, concentration, judgement and co-ordination.

My client has a muscle wasting disease and virtually is housebound without his car which is an automatic.

I now fear for his care component at tribunal

Any advice please?

Oh that driving a car thing is driving me round the bend!

They’ve clearly never heard of power-assiisted steering have they? The ‘driving a car’ cut & paste description is more akin to Ice Road Truckers than to popping to the surgery in your average automatic. .
