PIP assessment - absence abroad

The claimant has contacted us as to a PIP face-to-face assessment. He currently gets DLA – both care & mobility. His query was if he returns to Spain to reside there permanently how would the DWP deal with the assessment?

We have yet to see the claimant in person but he has done his own research and believes that DLA Care/PIP-DL can be paid in another EEA country based on the facts of his case. We will check the claimant’s circumstances when we see him by appointment and then advise him further on this issue and such matters as the EEA co-ordination rules etc but in the meantime any ideas as to the assessment?
