White/Blue Badge for older person with dementia
I am trying to find out about obtaining a white/blue badge for a man in his 80’s who has dementia. The man gets high rate attendance allowance due to dementia and has problems walking some days but needs encouragement and guidance to go out. I have looked at the regulations and I am not sure that his physical walking problems meet the criteria. The person who will drive him lives in a different borough but I don’t think that matters, as the badge is for the person, not the car.
Has anyone else had experience of claiming a badge for someone with dementia?
shouldn’t have thought it should be a problem.
put the application in and see.

Agree that it should be OK, I did quite a few of them when I used to work in a Carers Centre and most LAs are pretty reasonable when assessing BB criteria. You might want to look at section 4.3 here
And this guide produced by the PCA Support Group is about a specific condition but many of the symptoms are also relevant to dementia generally https://www.ucl.ac.uk/drc/pcasupport/contact_links/blue_badge_information
