French national working in the UK wants to bring her grandfather (he needs 24 hour care) over from France to the UK , permanently.

Would he be eligible to get LA/ NHS Continuing care to fund his his stay in a care home?.

In a nutshell, it’s very tricky to be sure what will happen.

For accessing NHS services as someone from abroad, see Moving to England - NHS Choices

For information about securing NHS CHC, have a look at our factsheet NHS continuing healthcare and NHS-funded nursing care

We’re aware of significant fall-out rates in people being offered NHS CHC, despite clearly having an eligibility (or at least seeming to), so your client’s father may find things even tougher.

We’ve discussed how father might fare looking to access local authority funding and to be quite honest, we’re really not sure. There’s the question of ordinary residence being established in the relevant local authority area and how he could do this. There are so many questions and possible outcomes it’s very difficult to say. You might need a community care lawyer.
