New Enterprise Allowance
We are seeing quite an increase of clients who are being advised by JCP that they have viable business ideas and encouraging them to claim New Enterprise Allowance.
We can categorically say that some of these ideas are NOT viable – one being spiritual walks through Gower another is jewellery making…
Does anyone have any information on this or experiencing similar problems ?
Sounds horribly reminiscent of the difficulties we have historically had with Maximus, A4E and similar (ESA claimants being ‘encouraged’ to set up as self employed Avon ladies, cup-cake makers, leaflet deliverers or- our very favourite so far- the ‘white van man’ with neither a driving licence nor a van).
Or “taking in ironing”!
Seriously suggested to a client of mine in 2013.
It demonstrates (as if further proof were needed) that the DWP will use any ploy to get people off benefits.
Sorry, I mean “help people into work”.
