Logic check for pensioners on UC

Hi, a logic check please.
A split age couple where the older one is a pensioner and on DLA would currently be awarded the element for Limited capability for work, so their award will lose that element if it was a new claim April 2017 onwards?

So if lose LCW also lose the related work allowance?

It sounds totally feasible, but is it true?
Cheers

They wouldn’t have the LCW element ( assuming a new claim from April 2017 ) but they would still have LCW which means they would still qualify for the work allowance.

For the moment all mixed-age couples still have the option of claiming pension credit - it’s not clear when that will stop.

Cheers Jon.
Curious - a negative impact on pensioners that doesn’t exist as pensioners are protected!

The only thing that protects pensioners is the triple lock on SRP. Or at least that’s the only commitment to protect pensioners.

Mixed-age couples, which is the official term, are going to find themselves subject to all the working age all conditions as a household. The individual older person will have some consideration in terms of conditionality and, of course, all of the notional income rose around pensions will be imported into UC as well.
