MRN for non-attendance - only sent when the decision is negative?
Claimant (who cannot leave the house) refused PIP late last year as he did not attend HCP appointment at a centre.
I sought MR of this on the obvious grounds.
No reply for months - made a formal complaint. Got a call today and was told that PIP will only issue an MRN in such cases when the MR decision is negative.
As they agreed there was good cause in this case, no letter was sent, no copy to me.
The matter was referred once again to HCP, who wrote to client - no copy to me.
HCP wrote giving a date for home visit. Client didn’t answer the door - non-attendance decision again. This time overturned as PIP say that HCP should have copied me in as rep.
So the HCP should write to me - but not PIP!
I’m told this has been the way they’ve worked since PIP started. I’ve never heard of this practice and its inadequacies dangers are pretty clear.
That may explain why I am not getting copies of letters sent to a couple of my clients, even though I am listed as rep.
