Late return of DLA renewal form ...

Morning all, and just a quick one ...

a client did not return her DLA renewal form on time and has now submitted this late with a covering letter explaining that they have good cause for doing so.

however, my concern is that the DLA renewal form will not be accepted, even with good cause, and that the client should have claimed PIP ?

any thoughts greatly appreciated, and as ever thank you in advance ...

Has the DLA award already ended?

Hello RG

Back in March we submitted a DLA renewal 10 days late with a covering letter providing ‘good cause’. Unfortunately it was passed to PIP and despite intervention by the MP we were told that this was “proper procedure” and would continue as PIP. I think I had to transcribe the contents of the DLA renewal form into the PIP form.

8 months later the benefit was awarded without f2f assessment and backdated to the date they accepted the claim as ‘PIP’. There was no transitional protection offered despite me asking nicely.

Lesson was well and truly learnt; get the DLA renewals in, in time!
