We   have a client who   has   been asked to travel   to B’ham to a PIP assessment when they are usually   held   in Derby or   Nottingham.

Has anyone else   any other experiences   of being asked to travel   long (  unexpected) distances?

Yes - we have had Derbyshire claimants being told to go to Leeds and other inappropriate venues. It’s still not clear to me if this is desperation or incompetence that is making Capita/Atos do this. They back down when challenged, but it shouldn’t have to happen.

http://www.rightsnet.org.uk/forums/viewthread/6941/ gives similar examples of lengthy journeys for assessment

They did this to one of my clients; trying to drag them to Birmingham for an assessment stating that their challenging behaviour made it too risky to assess them at home.

Strangely enough they issued a decision; made on the papers, the day before we served the discrimination claim at the County Court.

Was the challenge   made via the   county Court discrimination route or via the   other   usual routes?

, the day before we served the discrimination claim at the County Court.

It was breaches of the Equality Act.

The case continues…
