Whilst David Cameron had said a couple of weeks ago -

‘Over the past decade, there has also been concern about employers hunting out cheap labour from abroad, while too many young people are out of work. Some recruitment agencies have even been recruiting directly from elsewhere in the EU without British workers ever getting a chance to apply for the jobs. So we are banning overseas-only recruitment – legally requiring these agencies to advertise in English in the UK ...’

- yesterday, the Regulatory Policy Committee published its opinion on the evidence base for the government’s proposals, concluding that -

‘... the government’s impact assessment supporting its consultation is not fit for purpose.’
