I have just sent a letter to Milton Keynes BC and noticed that their postcode started WD99. Does this mean that there is a very quiet and waterproof part of Watford with the post code WD40?

Sorry. I’ll get on with some proper work now!

Puzzled, because Milton Keynes Council Civic Offices have postcode MK9 3EJ.

Several Government and local authority departments are using postcodes which have “99” after the town identifier.  For example there is a Post Handling Site for a Benefit Delivery Centre in Wolverhampton with the postcode WV99 1BY.

If you try searching for the location which corresponds to that postcode you will get a message to say that it doesn’t exist.  These are just codes allocated by Royal Mail for bulk mail delivery.
