Limit young person at college can earn?
Clients daughter is 19 yo and still in college. Client works and gets Child Benefit, CTC and HB. Daughter wants to get a weekend and evening job. Is there a limit on how much the young person can earn before it effects mother’s benefits?
Thanks
Not as long as they still get Child Benefit. There used to be a rule that the child’s earnings could be used to offset the element in the applicable amount for the child, but that was abolished a long time ago.
Thanks for that. I have a vague memory of that old rule.
Similar scenario but the work the young person has been offered is 16 hours and will be an apprenticeship. The young person will still be at college full time in non advanced education. Does this make a difference for mothers benefits of WTC, CTC and CB.
Sorry not very good at advising around benefits and young people!
