Hi can anyone tell me if you can be off sick geting half pay and claim ESA. client is a cancer patient but not terminal having chemotherapy.

I understand if you have pension you get deductions but cant find about income from work whilst off sick.

at the end of SSP period you can claim ESA - this will be cont based esa as long as previously paid enough NI in last 3 years and therefore income from work does not count, although would affect any income based top-up

thank you for your reply.

I kew you used to be able to get on IB but could not put my finger on esa. my client is getting half pay as stated and advised her to claqim but then hoped I had not wrongly advised her.
