Can a carer make a claim for CA after the person has died? (and ask for backdating) I can’t see why not, except the person being cared for isn’t around to sign the form to confirm they’ve been cared for

Yes, Carer’s Allowance can be claimed retrospectively and may also give entitlement to the 8 week run on after the date the person died. I note the form to say it is a retrospective claim with the date of death and they have all gone through without any problems.

If you are successful with the claim, could you let us know how did not manage with the confirmation by the person who was cared for as he is not alive to confirm.

I do these kind of claims all the time, just ignore the consent part of the form, and mention on the form the date of death.
