A client has just received an award of LRM and MRC DLA and wants to know how it affects her ESA. Can someone please advise? Thanks

Jane more information is needed.  Is the ESA means tested or not?  Does the client satisfy the conditions for Severe Disability Premium?

Jane

for Contribution based ESA - DLA has no effect
for income based ESA - your client may be entitled to the SDP

If your client lives alone and no one claims carer’s allowance for them they are entitled to the severe disability premium added to their appropriate amount for income based ESA purposes.

Send in an ESA 10 (Old IS 10 will do)
